A Surviving Young Adult's Rants and Raves.

MY OWN DOMAIN SITE!

I’M MOVING OUT!

That’s right people. I have (actually, my awesome boyfriend has) successfully imported this blog to my own domain site! Isn’t that great? I am so excited about it. I have been, for the last few weeks. I basically did…NOTHING 😛

I chose to announce this today because it’s my birthday tomorrow and it’s somewhat appropriate. I know, I know, CORNY!

BUT

I will be doing a new post in my new site and it will be exciting. New site, New stuff to feature right?

So I hope you’ll join me there!

You can subscribe through Feedburner. So, even if you are from Blogspot OR WordPress you don’t need to worry because you will receive updates straight from your email. So…

To my existing followers, please do follow my new site!

To Simply J’s Cafe & KoldKiss Milkshake Factory; your posts are in my new site as well and I have to say they are one of my best sellers per se!

HERE IS THE LINK

http://www.maricarljanah.com/

See you guys there!

Mwah!

First of all, I just want to say “Thank You” to everyone who joined my give away. It really means a lot to me. I received so many entries and as I read each and every one, I felt the urge to give all of the senders prizes!

If only it was possible, I would do it in a heartbeat! 😀

I also want everyone to know that your messages, greetings, and words of encouragement have touched my heart. I never knew that being a part of the YouTube community would allow me to meet so many different people, most of which are so amazing and friendly!

It was so difficult for me to choose the winner. As I’ve mentioned earlier…all the entries were filled with so much energy! Although some did not get all the right answers to my question; the important thing is that they tried their best, rather than living with a “what if”

SO…YOU GO GIRL!

Upon making the decision, I didn’t use random.org because it was such a common thing when it comes to give-aways and it makes me feel unattached to the whole process. Plus, it doesn’t support the purpose of my give away; which is to reward one subscriber who has been there since my early days of filming, and has constantly watched my videos and interacted with me.

I would like to give some shout outs to:

  • MissCoryPotts – Sab!
  • msmatched – Mich!
  • xLambGirlx – Patricia!
  • COLORismyweapon – Noe!
  • alluringchiq – I loved the energy of your entry dear!
  • annpotpot1 – thank you for that wonderful message 🙂
  • timmytuliao – omg, you’re so pretty! And you’re a make-up artist ❀
  • ALMat101 – Hey girl! Hope you get your products soon! Can’t wait for a new vid!
  • allaine1992 – You’re the sweetest ever!
  • girlpuyat07 – Tweet you later 😉
  • napzter87 – Chinky! Hope to see a video from you soon!
  • illmakeUpretty – thanks for giving me tutorial ideas with your requests dear 🙂

After pondering, thinking, analyzing, reviewing, scanning, and rating the entries and the sender I have finally chosen the winner…

CONGRATULATIONS TO… nighttenjo12, Maly Naine!

Maly Naine, If you are reading this…please send me your info ASAP! I will be messaging you via YouTube about the details 🙂

Thank you again and don’t worry, I will have a better give away contest hopefully when I get to a thousand subscribers! I hope you guys will still be there to join! Hugs and kisses! ❀

When I was in Kindergarten, I shoplifted crayons just to see if I can get away with it!

I love Shawarma, Takoyaki, Shawarma, shawarma…sha-war-maa :/

I’ve always wanted to be a ballerina, gymnast, and ice skater.

I sometimes daydream about being a famous singer/actress. Don’t judge. LOL!

Hey everyone! I’m a huge fan of Ever Bilena Cosmetics. Most of their products are affordable and trustworthy. A few of my favorites would have to be their foundations.

I’m a huge bargain freak and most of the time I look for items that are at the most reasonable price. But when it comes to foundations, I assumed I can only lean on internationally known products such as Revlon, L’oreal, Maybelline, etc. that are not-so-pocket-friendly.

I was very concerned about taking chances with local brands because, come on, this is our face! It’s a major major no-no to experiment on different products. I was afraid of having break-outs, or allergic reactions. However, a few years back, when I was in college, I had to be on a strict budget due to a sudden crisis caused by impulse shopping. I needed to think fast and prioritize! Was I willing to take a risk? Well, I really didn’t have a choice. So, I went on and purchased my first Ever Bilena Pro Flawless Finish Foundation.

I used Ever Bilena Pro Flawless Finish foundation in Natural blended with a darker color for contouring purposes. No editing done.

First of all, what attracted me was the packaging. It came in a sleek 30 mL glass container with a pumping system which, I thought, was very convenient and hygienic. Second of all, it only costs 165 pesos. Yes, ladies, 165 pesos! I couldn’t believe it either. Although, I was a bit worried at first; I used to have this weird assumption that if it’s cheap, it will probably suck. Apparently, that’s not always true.

If you look at the back of the box, you can see the ingredients of the product:

water, mineral oil, glycerin, micronized Titanium dioxide, Propylene glycol, PEG-100, PEG-30, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Octyl palmitate, Cetearyl alcohol, Polysorbate-60, Dimethicone, Dipolyhydroxystearate, Methyl Paraben, Propyl paraben, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Sodium EDTA, Tocopherly acetate, fragrance, may contain CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 7789

I don’t know about you, but I only recognize the first three. Since the product is water-based it provides light to medium coverage. After a second coat of the product, your scars, blemishes, and other imperfections are visibly reduced, so you don’t have to take a lot of time concealing. It is best for those with normal to dry skin since it has a dewy finish & may take a few minutes to dry. The oil part gives the foundation good movement, which allows blushes and eyeshadows to blend effortlessly and evenly over the face. Mistakes are easily buffed away with the sponge. If you don’t like any shiny areas upon application, you can dust a bit of loose or finishing powder on those areas and blend.

If you have oily or combination skin; this may not be the foundation type for you. Even the little amount of oil in a water-based foundation can show shine almost immediately. In my case, I usually use a primer or a make-up base before applying this product to prolong the amount of time it takes before oiliness begins. You can also bring Oil blotting sheets with you wherever you go to prevent packing on powder on your face.

As for the smell, it really isn’t unpleasant. In fact, it smells a little bit like Coco butter! For some reason it makes me crave for muffins or cupcakes (weird right?!)

It comes in four colors: Natural, Beige, Gold, and Oriental. Initially, I got the Natural one, but I just found it too ashy and it made my face so white that I had to take extra time to blend. So, I tested the other colors and found that Beige was the perfect color for me.

It also comes in a 40 mL plastic container. I think it costs around 125-145 pesos. I’m not very sure, but it is definitely cheaper than the glass one. It weighs more and is travel-friendly but the down side is that the opening is a simple hole that’s very inconvenient to use. You actually have to tilt the container at an angle and let the product drip slowly, or you’ll end up squirting it everywhere! For me, it’s not such a huge problem, but for those who are very particular with their foundations, you might as well go for the glass one with the pump.

After finding Ever Bilena Pro Flawless Finish Foundation very satisfactory, I decided to check out their other face products and picked up their Studio Finish Stick Foundation. I was at the counter, trying out a few products on my hand when I found the consistency and coverage of the cream to powder foundation very promising. I immediately purchased it for 165 pesos. You might think it’s too much for a relatively small stick, but Lo’ and behold! I was in awe! The coverage was perfect for me. It was not too heavy, but it covered my moles, dark circles, redness, and freckles so well that I barely needed to conceal anything and my pictures didn’t need any editing or enhancing. It automatically earned a spot in my favies list. Here are the ingredients:

Mica, Mineral Oil, Caprylic, Polybutene, Squalane, Ceresin wax, Euphorbia Cerifera wax, Copernicia Cerifera wax, Talc, Tocopheryl acetate,  Methy Paraben, Fragrance, may contain CI 77891, CI77491, CI77492, CI15850

Ever Bilena Studio Finish Stick Foundation

I used Ever Bilena Studio Finish Stick Foundation in Creme. No editing done!

Studio finish Stick foundation used on a client for Miss UP 2011

Stick foundations are essentially cream-to-powder foundations in stick form. It has a very creamy, almost greasy, appearance. When you blend it, the creamy aspect disappears and you are left with a slightly matte, powdery finish. They work well for someone with normal to slightly dry or slightly combination skin. This type of foundation doesn’t require powdering after you apply it. If you want to apply powder, make sure you apply it as lightly as possible to avoid a caked, heavy look.

It comes in 5 colors: Creme, Bare, Beige, Meil, Soleil. I got the Creme one since it suits my warm skin tone with a bit of yellow undertone. Beige would most probably suit morenas. Meil would be good for those darker than common morenas. Bare would most likely fit cool skin tones that have a peachy, pinkish undertone. I find Soleil to be the darkest color.

After getting satisfied yet again, I was pretty much “foundation hopping” from one product to the next. I figured I can check out their foundation line that has UV protection, since Summer is fast approaching, and we all know what that means. I tried their Shine Free Foundation with UVA/UVB Protection for only 100 pesos and wanted to know if it really WAS Shine free.

I used Ever Bilena Shine Free foundation with UVA/UVB Protection in Soft Bisque. No editing done!

I have to say that this product is quite promising. It has light coverage. It doesn’t really cover blemishes well, so you need to conceal. But it gives you a very sheer, natural finish so you won’t look overdone. It’s great for everyday wear, since it gives you a very fresh finish! It works better with powder blush and highlighters. It easily dries up on your face and looks matte.

It has 4 colors: Natural, Soft Bisque, Oriental, Almond. I got the one in soft bisque because it’s a light color with a pinkish tone to it that gives my skin that healthy glow. There’s barely any difference between Natural and Almond, but Oriental has a yellow undertone.

Just like the Pro flawless finish foundation, it’s water-based so it’s suitable for normal to dry skin.

The last foundation I tried from ever Bilena is their Advance Two-way Cake foundation. I got it for 200 pesos. I seriously don’t understand why it’s more expensive than all the other foundations I’ve tried. I was never a fan of powder foundations because it usually made me break out. It’s actually very ironic since powder foundations would be perfect for oily skin. I wanted to try this out because I was experimenting. I guess the whole “foundation hopping” extravaganza got me carried away. I found it very challenging to use this product due to the sponge applicator. I also found that using a powder brush was not effective. I tried using a pressed powder puff and it did the job. I guess that means I have to go hunt for another puff just for this product!

First of all, powder foundations are just like pressed powder, except they have heavier coverage. It stays on for the most part of the day without fading, caking, or disappearing. It should be easy to use, but for some reason, it’s not so effective on me. Maybe I’m meant to get the Advance Powder foundation. The only reason I didn’t get it was because it was a bit more expensive than the two-way cake one and the SA explained that the only difference was that it had sunscreen and the container was “prettier” bad decision! Now I am planning to get the other one. Boo.

Let’s hope that this product will redeem itself. I just wanted to mention this product since it’s still relevant to the topic on hand.

So those are the Ever Bilena foundations I have tried. I hope I have helped somehow. I know how difficult it can be to choose the perfect foundation. It’s very crucial to achieving the perfect look. Just take note that before you begin your search; you need to identify your skin type.

These products may have been satisfactory for me, but they may not be for you. We all have different preferences, but one thing I can say is that they did not make me break out, which is definitely a good thing. A minor downside to them may be their shine-free abilities. Maybe it’s my skin, maybe it’s the weather, but I am still on the hunt for the perfect, perfect foundation for me! I know it’s out there. But meanwhile, it wouldn’t hurt to play around with these awesome products 🙂

As you all know, I love making videos on YouTube. It’s definitely become one of my passions. My main purpose for making videos is to share what I know about Fashion and Beauty, especially make-up, to everyone! Since I initially learned what I know by watching tutorials by gurus like Makeupgeek, Kandeejohnson, and Pixiwoo; I felt that I wanted to inspire other girls to indulge in all things beneficial to our health and beauty as well, using products that are available & convenient.

I want to disseminate that beauty is attainable despite imperfections and limitations.

I wanna tell every girl out there that “You are beautiful in your own way.”

My tutorials are also my outlet. Whenever I feel down or I’m simply bored to my guts, I just get the camera & film about anything. It not only makes me feel better, but it also allows me to reach out to amazing people inside or outside the country. It opens up a gateway to getting know other women out there who can relate to me, or who simply enjoy watching my videos.

Every time I make my videos, I  stay true to myself. I don’t use a script, I don’t plan on what to say, and I don’t edit them in a way that would project me in a different light; and knowing that I gained subscribers despite being a crazy-ass, hyperactive woman who enjoys ranting and waving her hands everywhere is such a motivation for me! I seriously never thought I would reach 500. To some, it may not be much, but to me…it’s everything awesome and more! So I want to give back by doing this give away contest!

If you’re a subscriber, or if you have read a few entries from my blog that include videos, then you must be familiar with my YouTube Channel maricarljanah I have a decent amount of subscribers and they are all amazing! So I received an email about two days ago from Ms. Michelle Tiu aka msmatched asking me if I wanted to be a guest blogger on her site. I felt so flattered having been asked to do something so awesome! Plus, I have never done anything like it. So, of course I agreed and we both metaphorically sat down and talked about how we’d go about it.

Basically, I’ll be doing an article that’s Beauty or fashion related. I was planning on slacking and just do it next week, but I had a sudden wake-up call; thanks to Ms. Kristine Roa of InStyle Cebu who stumbled upon my humble site and was gracious enough to promote it on her Twitter. Not only did I freak out, but I also did MAJOR re-editing of a few entries. I know, I know, I should always proofread before publishing, but hey, I never thought someone would actually read the stuff I post (LOL!) Maybe it’s a higher being’s way of telling me to get my butt off my bed and do something productive! So here I am ranting about something barely relevant to you or your life or maybe even your interests; however, you can consider this as a comeback entry per se.  Are you excited? Probably not, but I’ll be excited for both of us, yeah?

So I will be coming up with something very soon and you can read it here and at Michelle’s site. Feel free to check out her blog at beautifulloft.blogspot.com

Have a great day and wish me luck! 🙂

KoldKiss Milkshake Factory

It has been such a long time since I made a blog post. I continuously say I would get on it, but I’m a professional procrastinator. A clear example is today. I’m supposed to be reading a few notes for a predictor exam, but here I am typing away. I just can’t seem to get my thoughts organized enough to focus on a certain task. So, I think happy thoughts, and it leads me to the cold, sweet, refreshing, addictive drink that KoldKiss Milkshake Factory gives me.

I’ve been craving their drinks like a pregnant woman for the past two days now; especially the Wild Strawberry and Heavenly Vanilla. I would gladly get one of course, if not for the fact that I live all the way South and I have to drive a full 20 minutes to get to SM, the only place I can get them from.

I came across their humble stall by accident. I just finished shopping for random things at SM and I decided to walk around. I passed by their stall near the front, right side of Ace Hardware and simply walked past it; however, for some reason, I took a few steps back and read their menu. The girl in the stall was very accommodating and friendly. She asked me what I wanted to order but I have never tried their drinks before. She was quite assertive so she offered their best seller: Wild Strawberry. I didn’t really think it would be anything special, but when I finally took a sip…OMG, it was so good. I think “so good” would be an understatement, but it really is good.

When I finished it all up, I was craving for another one! Unfortunately, I was already at home. The week after that I decided to meet my friend Kim at SM to have dinner and of course get my second dose of KMF. I made her try it and took pictures because I decided to blog about it. This was around December of last year. I know, I know…It took some time! Anyway, she got the Mocha Supremo and loved it. She’s usually very picky when it comes to food and drinks. Her liking the drink IS a big deal.

So, 2010 flew and it was January 2011. It was Sinulog Festival, my family and I opted to go to SM rather than to the streets to watch the parade because it was raining non-stop. I passed by their stall and automatically made my whole family get one. My dad had the Tropical Mango, I had Heavenly Vanilla, and my sister had Mocha Supremo. We even took pictures in front of the stall just for kicks.

Now, my sister is addicted to it as well. Just yesterday, she made my mom drive to SM just to get one. I was calling my mom on her mobile while driving from a make-up gig to see if they were still there because…YES, I was craving for it as well.

What is the point of this random blabber? KoldKiss Milkshake is the BOMB! If you’re still not convinced after reading this blog, it’s either you’re a hater, lactose-intolerant…or simply dense! Just kidding. Seriously though, you really should try them. They have a limited menu but you get hooked to each of them. It’s too bad they only have one stall and it has to be all the way at SM. But I did ask the sales lady about it and she mentioned that hopefully they would expand. I really think they should!

Although the prices might range from 50 to 99 pesos, they are all worth it. I mean come on… Starbucks Frapuccinos cost more than 120+ and Bo’s brewed tea is about 100+. Personally, I would prefer a KMF drink if I had to choose. I just wish they had a real place to chill at instead of a simple stall. But I guess everything has its humble beginnings.

If you haven’t tried a KMF drink, get your butt off that seat and get one! You will not regret it. Who knows, you might end up like me and tell everyone you know about it. I wish them all the best and I hope they would expand and improve very, very soon!

As you can see from the photos above, I used to have straight hair. Early this year, I decided to curl it permanently. The main reason was because I wanted to have more volume and “oomph” to my hair. I also felt that it was sexier and easier to maintain because I didn’t need to brush, maintain or make sure it’s styled properly, etc. But lo’ and behold! I was dead wrong!

When I finally got my hair done, I realized that it looked different from what I expected. I assumed my natural shiny hair would come through, instead it looked dry and frizzy. I was in panic mode! I immediately went on my laptop and researched everything I needed to know to keep my hair from becoming a disaster!

The main issues are dryness and frizz. No, it won’t treat itself. You certainly have to do something about it! So, I have decided to list down the tips I have learned so far; hoping that I can help  all women out there who are naturally curly and have been struggling with it and those that are planning to curl their hairs.

  • Curly hair needs moisture. It hungers for it!
  1. Drink lots of water! This is generally healthy.
  2. Avoid washing your hair every day. Yes, that’s right. This will strip the hair of its natural oils which helps keep the hair from looking extra dry and reduces risks of breakage.
  3. Avoid direct sunlight. Protect your hair by wearing scarves, hats, etc when going out on a sunny day. If you have extra money, you can get a hair serum with silicone or Hair Cuticle coat to cover your hair and screen it from the harsh UV rays.
  4. Use Natural Oils after washing hair and massage your scalp with it and coat your cuticles: Rosemary, Cedar wood oil, Coconut oil, Sesame seed oil, Horseradish oil and Olive oil.
  5. Deep conditioning is really important. You can do it at least once every week or once a month. There are several commercial products you can choose from; however, these are some natural remedies:
  • eggs & mayonnaise – mix them together and apply on dry hair. Cover it with a shower cap for 30-45 minutes. For better conditioning, use gentle, low heat using a blow dryer and then rinse.
  • Avocado & Olive oil –  Mix half an avocado with a spoon of olive oil. Massage carefully into hair and leave for twenty minutes with an old shower cap to aid penetration.
  • Coconut Oil & Natural Honey – Place a half cup of coconut oil & natural honey in a plastic bag and place in a bowl of hot water to warm it. Then, apply on hair. Leave on for 30-45 minutes and rinse. For more recipes check this site.
  • Frizz is a huge issue with curly hair.
  1. Let your hair dry naturally. Avoid blow drying. If you insist, then use a diffuser before doing so.
  2. Use wide tooth combs instead of brushes. You can also use your fingers to get rid of tangles.
  3. When drying your hair, do not rub. Instead, pat it with a paper towel or your regular towel.
  4. When you go to sleep, braid your hair. This will keep it from going all crazy when you move around your bed and rub your head on your pillow.
  5. Use a leave on conditioner or a Curling lotion. This will group curls together and give more definition to it.
  6. Use creamy shampoos rather than gel-like ones.
  7. Avoid hair products that are alcohol and gel based.
  8. Avoid hair straighteners.
  • Styling curly hair can be very challenging.
  1. Choose the right hair style. Curly hair looks better when it’s long. Short curly hair tends to go everywhere and is less flattering. Layers also complement curly hair.
  2. Use hair serums when styling.
  3. You can also style your hair while damp and let it dry naturally.
  4. Choose hair products specific for curly, frizzy, or dry hair.
  5. flattering hair styles can be loose buns, half-up half-down, wearing headbands, loose ponytails, romantic up-dos, etc.

So those are some of the tips I have come across so far. For my personal routine, here it is:

  • I wash my hair every other day.
  • I use Watson’s smoothing treatment shampoo yoghurt in strawberry for curly frizzy hair

This is in Honey for permed hair

  • I use Beauty Formulas Honey Treatment Wax for my deep conditioner

The Beauty Formula's Deep conditioners

  • For my regular conditioner, I use Cream Silk Volume up conditioner

  • I also use a hair rinse which is The face Shop’s Cooling Mint Hair rinse in apple mint & pepper mint
  • After taking a shower and drying my hair by patting it with a towel, I apply Monea’s curl defining milk which is a hair lotion. I do this 2-3 times a week.

  • I also use Olive oil to massage my scalp and coat my hair strands to retain my hair’s natural moisture.

So, I hope this has been helpful and I wish you all luck in your journey to a better, healthy looking hair!

Natural Beauty is Best!

Have you ever experienced feeling very ugly or imperfect? At times, you are too hesitant to spend more than 5 minutes in front of the mirror because you are too afraid to look at yourself because thoughts might run through your head like :

I’m too fat.

My face is too round, my nose is too big,

My eyes are too chinky.

My lips are too full.

I wish I looked like the girls in the magazines, or on TV.

I wish I wasn’t me.

There is a specific point in our life where we begin to notice our physical traits and that is our teenage years. I personally believe that being a teenager is the most challenging thing ever and I would think twice about going back there. Hormones start kicking in and we notice several changes. Some of them, actually, most of them are not good. Our faces become oily, we start getting pimples, and the dreaded menstrual period that I have to say, drives me absolutely insane.

These changes may stop around the end of our teen years but the struggle to become beautiful or satisfied with how we look is still a challenge. When I learned how to do make-up, I was so happy. I learned to cover the dark circles under my eyes, to conceal pimples, and to look different from how I really am.

Time passed I learned about the more important things like taking care of my skin, hair, face, and body. After everything that I have learned I have come out absolutely fabulous! I look and feel great, and I finally embraced my imperfections, and adored my own natural beauty. With this realization, I have grown less inspired to put on make-up so I can look like other people. Instead, I focused on emphasizing the traits that I already have and enhancing them to let my true beauty shine.

That is why this make-up tutorial is truly one of the best things I could share with you guys. It’s simple, and it is very easy to do. I want all of you to sit for a minute in front of your mirror and try to figure out what your assets are, then enhance it with the make-up tips I will be giving you. When it comes to your imperfections, conceal it, hide it with the products I will share with you. Be beautiful in your own way, that is the key to gaining self-confidence and a better outlook of yourself and things around you.

The products I used are available in local department stores and drug stores. I wanted to make sure I made it as easy as possible for every woman out there. So here is the list:

  1. Ever Bilena Advance Studio Finish Stick Foundation – P165.00
  2. Dollface Cosmetics Concealer palette – an alternative can be the Ever Bilena Advance Face Concealer P150.00
  3. Nichido Finishing Powder – an alternative can be your very own compact powder
  4. Ever Bilena 24 shadows palette
  5. Aido liquid eyeliner – P60.00
  6. Lover’s eyeshadow in Red Earth – an alternative can be any eyeshadow or matte blush a shade darker than your skin tone
  7. Ever Bilena blush in Raisin – P150.00
  8. Ever Bilena matte lipstick in skin – P125.00

For this look, you want less product as much as possible. We only need the basics. Don’t think that if you look like you don’t have anything on your face, then you failed. The point is, we want to look naturally beautifully, like we did not put in that much effort. So rejoice dear! You did great!

Here is a comprehensive tutorial on how to achieve the natural look.

For this year, one of the make-up trends is bold lips. This displays an emphasis on supple, kissable, pouty, and attention-grabbing smackers. It’s flirty, sexy, classy, and simple all at the same time. This is perfect for girls that prefer to keep their make-up on the low. It’s all about flawless, glowing skin and a beautiful deep, bright lipstick.

If you would like to know how to achieve a flawless looking face, then check out my blog post about it here

The most important thing about this look is a clear, matte, and flawless face with contouring and highlighting to enhance the highest points of your face.

A Simple Guide

A Simple Guide

If you want to make something look smaller, contour and use dark colors. If you want to widen it then highlight or use light colors. That is the basic concept. This can be very useful when we want to reshape a person’s face and to cosmetically correct imperfections.

So let’s begin with the products I used to create this look:

  1. 4u2 Spotlight Make up Base
  2. Ever Bilena Pro Flawless Foundation in natural
  3. Dollface cosmetics color correcting concealer palette
  4. Nichido Finishing Powder in natural
  5. Avon neutral eyeshadow palette (for brows and eye lids)
  6. Avon Pencil liner in black
  7. ELF white liner
  8. ELF eyelash curler
  9. ELF Bronzing powder in Sun-kissed
  10. Green Tea Mascara
  11. Ever Bilena lip liner in no. 14
  12. Aido purple lipstick
  13. LA Colors lip gloss in Orchid

Just read and watch my post on how to get a flawless looking face. Refer to the picture above for a quick reference on how to highlight and Contour your face.

When you contour your face, you want to define and emphasize certain areas of your face that you feel, looks flat; like the cheekbone area the bridge of your nose, your temples, and forehead, if it’s too wide. Proper contouring would require the right shade of contouring powder. we want something slightly darker than our skin tone, not too much, but just enough to create the illusion. It will come off as shadows on your face so you have to be careful. A little comes a long way. Proper technique is beneficial. Try to apply the product at the right places, and at areas you feel will compliment your face.

For highlighting, it is important to remember that it will make your face glow in pictures or when light hits your face OR It will make your face look OILY! So you must be careful as well. Apply the highlights at specific areas that will flatter your face like in between your eyes, highest point of your cheeks, bridge of your nose, on top of your cupid’s bow, tip of your chin. Now remember, you can also highlight your forehead; however, you have to make sure that the product is matte, not shimmery! Why? because it can come off as an oily spot in pictures. Take note of that!

For the eyes:

  1. define your crease area using a neutral shade of eyeshadow.
  2. tight line your upper waterline to make your lashes look thicker.
  3. make your eyes look more awake and bright by applying white liner on your waterline.
  4. curl your lashes and apply mascara. Make sure to emphasize those lashes. The more they are curled the more bright looking your eyes will be.

For the Lips:

  1. If you have thin lips, you can cancel out the colors of your natural lips by using foundation or concealer and create your own lips. You have to practice though; it is NOT easy.
  2. If you are satisfied with your lips, just define the shape by lining the outer part with lip liner. it can be a shade close to your natural lips or a bit darker, or it can be the same color as your lipstick.
  3. You can fill in with the lip liner to help keep the lipstick last longer, or you can apply lipstick right away, it depends on you. But for an all nighter, or if you want it to stay on despite a huge meal or lots of smearing, then fill it in.
  4. Apply your preferred lipstick and lip gloss

Don’t be afraid to go all out on your lips, just make sure that the shape is perfect. Clean up the look and you are ready! Flash this look to your friends, co-workers, classmates, and be confident! You look beautiful 🙂
